When Fit with Friends began, it was called “Get Fit 2016” or “Get Fit” for short. At the time, it was an appropriate name because it started as a group of my friends wanting to… get fit in 2016.
Seeing how it’s 2017 and this thing is still going, it became obvious that a name makeover needed to happen. To come up with a new name I asked for suggestions from some of the smartest and most creative people I know, the users!
Here are a few names we came up with to replace Get Fit 2016. They certainly are… creative?
- Become Fit
- Get Really Fit
- Get Fit, Friends
- Get Fit Friends
- Get Fit, Get Friends
- Stop Being Sick, Get Fit With Friends Now
- Fit Happens
- Fitr Togethr
- You Lazy Bum
Choosing Fit with Friends
While we had a lot of fun coming up with different ideas and learning about the importance of punctuation, it became clear that Fit with Friends was the best name for our challenge.
A piece of advice that I received during this process was to choose something descriptive. “Fit with Friends” is a great way to highlight one of the favorite aspects of the challenge, the community!
Working on teams is one of the qualities that make Fit with Friends unique and fun! We love using the GroupMe app to communicate with each other and writing encouraging (or trash talking) comments on each other’s pages.
Another reason for choosing Fit with Friends is because it is flexible. We have a group called Fit with 11 Online Friends, and another group called Fit with Greer Friends. As more and different groups join Fit with Friends, the name is flexible and personal to reflect each group’s identity.
Finally, Fit with Friends doesn’t stray too far away from Get Fit. It’s concise, descriptive, fun, and a great name for our challenge!
